TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - North Lampung Regent, Agung Ilmu Mangkunegara, is set to be taken to Jakarta to undergo further questioning and investigations by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The regent saw himself to be one of the youngest as he was elected as the region’s number one man. However, his name had already been popular prior to his position as Regent.
Agung Ilmu Mangkunegara was born on August 17, 1982, and was inaugurated as North Lampung’s regent at the age of 32 years old for the 2014-2019 term. The son of former Way Kanan Regent, Tamanuri, managed to clinch the 2019 simultaneous regional election.
In his journey to the position as regent, Mangkunegara had been backed by Nasdem, Gerindra, PAN, and PKS, after winning 162,426 votes (50.85 percent).
Nearing the end of his tenure, Agung was nabbed in one of KPK’s sting-operation together with two agency leaders and one middleman. His status will be determined one day after his arrest, where the KPK will announce whether Agung will be named a suspect or remain as a witness.
